What Can I Do To Train For My Nypd Cadet Corps Obstacle Course?

the obstacle course:
“from a kneeling, weapon-ready position, candidate sprints 50 feet and mounts a 6 foot barrier.
candidate proceeds to six stair climb system and completes three over-and-back traverses.
candidate proceeds to controlled-force-tactics and training device which measures the ability to resist or control force in a physical restraint situation.
candidate proceeds to run/jog around a pattern of cones for approx. 600 feet.
candidate proceeds to a simulated victim rescue involving a thirty five foot drag of a 175lb mannequin.”
lastly, there is a shooting/accuracy exercise, but i am worried about all this physical stuff.
i am naturally petite/athletic (5′3″/107lbs), but i am VERY out of shape, ie: i do not exercise at all and have NEVER been a runner.
what can i do to train for this? how can i build up my endurance?
i want to kick *** on this test and prove to myself and all the men that women are just as good (if not better) at this. ty!!!

i don’t know if there is a military base around your location, but they usually have a PT (physical training) course.
see if you and a couple of other cadets can use the police academy PT course on your own time. heck your instructor might permit you, just by asking, because the instructor will see you want to succeed and permit you. if you are aloud Please take a partner with your so both of you can train and help each other.
we even have a high school which has a police PT course, maybe there is a school out there that has one and get permission from them.
don’t let the thought of all the PT part of training get you. when i was in school i could not qualify for an sports team, because i was too slow, short, i did not meet their needs, but i did join the Army after high school and made it through boot camp all thirteen weeks of it, and this was 1979, which means they required more for me to pass all my requirements before i could go to AIT (advanced individual training) for my job training. and i was 138 lbs, 5 foot 3 inches also. and i made it, so i have confidence you can do it, just don’t let no one tell you different.
if you want this position bad enough, you will not look back and keep moving forward with the attitude NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP ME and you will succeed.
good luck and make us proud.

Aren’t you the one asking about the dummy pull??? Anyways you are thinking way too much into it, do not be nervous and you will be suprised what your body can actually do when it really matters. Trust me I was in the Marine Corps for 8 years and there was always a challenge that seemed impossible but I made it and so can you, Good Luck.

If your already a cadet ask a fellow cadet. If your not ask a cop on the street. Either way your going to have to get your rear in gear. Im wondering why if you knew you wanted to be a cop you havent already started working out. GOOD LUCK!
