Why Do Perpetrators Have More Rights Than Victims?
My grandson was burned by his babysitter almost 2 years ago and we are still waiting to go to court. It seems she has more rights than he does. He had the right to spend a week at Shriners Hospital and then another month with twice daily bandage changes which were extremely painful for him (as well as exhausting for his mother and I b/c we had to change the bandages). He had the right to still wear a compression garment, and he has the right to have scars on his legs, buttocks and genitals for the rest of his life. Yet she is still walking around a free woman. 2 years! She’s had with her children and her husband, mocking us with her freedom while my grandsonhas the right to be tortured by night terrors and painful exercises to keep his legs moving like they should. 2 years, isn’t that long enough to flaunt herself all over town while everyone knows what she has done to this baby? I can’t understand this, can someone please help me out?

I’m very sorry for what happened, but try to remember that your grandson can still have a long and happy life.
This will be more likely if the people around him expect this of him, rather than feeding bitterness.
All of his life, he has the right to go free and do what he wants (within reason).
She will have to face prison at some point, and I agree, the sooner the better.
There, living conditions are grim, and she’ll have hardly any rights or freedom at all.
The reason for people accused of crim having rights is to prevent innocent people from being incarcerated for things they didn’t do.
Although that sometimes means the guilty aren’t punished as soon as they should be, it’s still right.
crime seems to pay” and it has to stop.
First of all my heart goes out to you and your family, and yes this system can/does SUCK!!
Along with this being a free country comes consequences. The rights of a victim sometimes fall in the cracks of the perpetrator.
The only good thing that will come out of this is that when you go to court and she IS found guilty, they will put her in “general Population” in prison as a “child abuser” and that’s when the system takes over.
Don’t fret dear, she will get hers, she will get it.

the american justice system protects more perpetrators then victims, and a change in mgmt regime is the only thing that can bring about change in this area. it is sad, but true.
Maybe it’s time you take matters into your own hands a bit here, but you must keep it a secret. You must do things that mess with her finances, her home life, maybe send her children a letter displaying burn victims. Wear gloves and don’t lick the stamp or envelope. Send tons of magazines to her house by subscription so she will get billed, I mean there are endless ways to mess up her life.
I am a victim too and I just went thru a trial but the defense keeps filing frivolous motions just because she doesn’t want to lose, the attorney. She doesn’t care that I am a victim, so now I publicize truthful outrageousness about her and it’s driving her to anger the judge. She’s out of control and the judge is extremely angry at her.
Mess with her head a bit and transfer her mail to an empty home for sale (far away). Be careful and always use gloves and don’t spit or breathe on stuff. Wear a dust mask (those little white face masks) if you have to not to drool or drip saliva on anything and let her have it. Keep it a secret though.
There are so many ways to cause her to think and why not put her house up for sale? Put up fliers that her house is for sale and say it’s private so no sign out front. Tell them all a specific time to come for open house. You must keep secret and don’t leave any crumbs behind that will lead back to you. It’s a good job to burn things that are scraps left over of your work, or deposit what won’t burn in a McDonald’s or empty dumpster somewhere.
I missed the part where you said she did it on purpose. We have a justice system although not perfect it is still one of the best in the world if not the best. We should definately consoder caining and cutting off hands of thieves though and child abuse should be punishable by death.
