Pregnant Women And Exercise?

I was at the gym last night and was watching a pregnant woman workout on a arc trainer. She appeared to be in her third trimester. It’s great that she was exercising, but I thought it was a little strange since that particular machine causes a jarring movement. What do you think?

It is fine for a pregnant woman to exercise as long as it isn’t too extreme (body building, etc). The jarring movement won’t hurt because they tell you that you can have sex during your pregnancy and that usually involves some jarring…LOL!! Usually they say not to start any major exercise program after you find out your are pregnant though. It is ok to continue what you are doing if you are doing it before pregnancy. They usually recommend all pregnant women to walk or swim if they are having a normal pregnancy. One of my friends who didn’t exercise before pregnancy was told by her dr. to join a water aerobics class and she did. Just consult with your doctor to be safe.

It is always safer to check with your doctor before starting any exercise regimen. Even though your pregnant it is very healthy for you and your unborn child to get some exercise.
