Are There Certain Exercises That Women Should Avoid?
On the news today they were going to talk about the best and worst exercises for women to do to get nice legs. I wasn’t able to watch it, but it left me really curious. Which exercises should be avoided?
Generally speaking you don’t want to get your information on exercise from the news, so don’t worry about missing the story.
Women and men, as far as exercise is concerned pretty similar. That means that as much as there are exercise to be avoided, it applies to both genders. However that’s not to say the women and men don’t often have different goals when it comes to exercise.
As rule there aren’t “bad” and “good” exercises, but rather exercsises that are good for the vast majority of people to do, and exercises that are only really useful under particular circumstances.
That being said, the generally most beneficial exercises for legs would be:
**Squats, that includes, front squats, back squat (both low-bar and high-bar), overhead squats zercher squats, single leg squats and so on.** It’s a long list, but this is by far the best exercise for legs.
Deadlifts
Romanian Deadlifts and stiff leg deadlifts
Snatches
Cleans
Glute Ham raise
Lunges
Sprinting
Hill Sprints
Pushing a prowler
And the ones that would NOT be especially useful for most people
Leg extensions
Leg Curls
Leg Press
Anything done on an abduction or adduction machine
Anything done while standing on an exercise ball
And then there’s a middle ground of exercises that are alright, and can be made use of by most people but aren’t fantastic.
Any kind of Calf raises
Step-ups
