I Am Looking To Tone Up My Body. Any Ideas For Some Cardio Exercises That I Can Do?

I have a little fat around the waist and hips like most women do, and i am looking to tone up and trim down … only 1/2 a dress size. I want to get fitter too!
The only problem is that i have bad knees, i can’t run for long or on hard surfaces without it being very painful… don’t know why they do, but its always been like that. So what else can i do that will help me?

Cardio exercises won’t tone your body. You need some bodyweight exercises that will take that pain away from your knees, stretch you out, strengthen you, and give you some endurance.
I’d suggest doing some free squats (no weights needed, just do a lot of them), pushups, situps (don’t bother with crunches, they are useless), just simple stuff like that. Yoga is also very good – find a more vigorous discipline like Ashtanga.
Also, I’d suggest Body Sculpting Bodyweight Exercises for Women by Eddie Baran. Ignore the huckster-like sound of his website – the guy is for real and will make you look and feel better than you’ve ever felt.

try power plate. they have studios and machines at selected gyms. maybe best to start at a studio as they show you what to do and how to get the best results. this machine is excellent if you have dodgy joints, knees etc. i tried it after i had a broken ankle as i couldnt do anything high impact and this was perfect. the results are amazing. tones and builds lean muscles. not good for cardio, but thats not what you looking for if you wanting to tone i think. you also in and out within half an hour, so not time consuming either.

If you have bad knees, you can do spin, which burns around 600 calories per hour, or the elliptical, which is around 450 calories

You could always buy some toning pads. I use them because I actually find them more effective than excercise on certain parts of the body. You just strap them to yourself and the pads use a small current to vibrate your muscles this contracting and relaxing them over and over. Most sets come with different settings eg. fitness, bodybuild and different variables. And you can use them all over your body! When it comes to abs though i prefer good old crunches :D

Walk. Do 45-60 minutes a couple times a week. It is great and will tone you out very soon/fast. Try a sculpting (muscles) class and just lift free weights :) You will see some toning in no time :)
